Here at Barmby on the Marsh Primary School we take safeguarding very seriously. The school has a robust Child Protection Policy and follows East Riding County Council Safeguarding Children Board Guidelines and Procedures regarding child safety and welfare. We aim to provide a safe and secure environment where children are protected. The curriculum is used to build confidence in pupils to ensure their own protection and understand the importance of protecting others.

Operation Encompass

At Barmby on the Marsh Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children.

We are proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national initiative that helps schools provide support for children who may have experienced domestic abuse.

What is Operation Encompass?

Operation Encompass is a partnership between the police and schools.
– When the police have attended an incident of domestic abuse where children were present, or usually live at the address, they will inform the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) the following morning.
– This early sharing of information helps us to provide timely and sensitive support for the child.

How does it work at our school?

– The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), or their deputy, will receive the information in confidence.
– Only staff who need to know will be informed, so that we can support the child in the best way possible.
– We will never share this information with other children or families.

– We will provide nurturing, practical, and emotional support to children affected.
– We will handle all information confidentially and sensitively.
– We will always act in the best interests of the child.
